Surprise, Surprise, Surprise

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an interesting and unexpected impact on sales from Canadian Woodenware Co. There has been a spike in sales of washboards. Some people who are self-isolating and concerned with keeping a safe distance are avoiding apartment building laundry facilities and regular laundromats. They are concerned with all of the metal surfaces given the coronavirus reported survival times of up toi seven days. Their solution is to launder some or all of their clothes at home. Of course, if you have a washer and dryer at home it is not such a problem. But most apartment buildings in Canada don't have individual appliances in each apartment. Their solution is to hand wash.
Hand washing a few pairs of socks and some underwear can be managed pretty easily with a sink and a bar of soap, but if you have larger items, or stains to take care of, washboards are the way to go.
I was contacted by a customer recently who wanted one of the smaller boards, either the Ideal or the Pearl. She wanted it specifically for her fabric mask. She had been advised to avoid putting the mask in with her regular laundry, and couldn't disinfect it in the microwave because of the metal nose band. So her decision was to go with a small washboard. I mentioned to her it would be great to spread the word and she was good enough to make a video on her smartphone. Here is the link to it on our Facebook page.
Stay safe and hopefully we can all get back to a more normal life soon.
